A new signal box was installed in March 1942, replacing the previous Oxford South box, the trackwork taking until September to complete. The dog chart and associated locking table, derived from the dog chart, show the frame, as at August 1942, named 'Oxford South'. By December 1946 the dog chart was named 'Hinksey North' and showed locking added for provision of a Down Goods Loop Home Signal (61), the Down Main Detonators being moved from that lever to lever 62, as can be seen in the locking table. The box diagram has been published in 'The Heart of the Great Western by Adrian Vaughan, OPC, page 150'.
