On 1st October 1960 there occurred a momentous event. For the first time ever the timetable appendices of the national railway network came into line with a common standard.
British Railways introduced a General Appendix common to all lines under its control. From the same date all Regions, Operating Divisions and Districts had a set of Appendices to a common layout and standard applicable all the way from Penzance to Wick, Holyhead to Ramsgate. The Western Region (who else!) added an extra layer by having a Regional Appendix.
This disk contains the definitive set of General Appendix, Western Regional Appendix, and all the Divisional & District Appendices including the Swansea District one of 1958 and the Exeter District one of earlier in 1960. Working Over editions were brought into use as well but are not included as the information duplicates the content of the core set.
The appendices are provided in PDF format and can be read by pretty well any computer, tablet or mobile phone. Each PDF is fully searchable to ease the process of locating specific items. It is possible to print the PDF files either as entire books or as individual pages.
