• Chester, North Wales & Wirral

The tenth volume of John Swift’s layout plans of the 1950s stays with the London & North Western Railway theme by visiting lines in Cheshire and North Wales..

In the western parts of Cheshire we head for the county town at Chester and then along the Birkenhead Joint lines to Birkenhead, Daresbury and West Kirby. From West Kirby we follow the Wirral Railway as far as Birkenhead and New Brighton. The link from Whitchurch to Tattenhall is included.

The North Wales section starts Holyhead and follows the coastal route all the way to England. Branches off this main line take in Anglesey, Chwilog, Nantille, Llanberis, Bethesda, Llandudno, Conway Valley, Dyserth and Holywell Town. We also strike south from Rhyl to Corwen and dolly eastward through Mold back towards Chester.

If you are not sure whether the location that interests you is in this volume or a different one, a combined index of all the locations in the series can be downloaded from our main web site entirely free of charge.

This is an A4 card covered book with, generally, more than 1 diagram per page.
