‘Signals from the Past’ by David Allen: An interesting resume of where we have come with signalling since 1962 following the commissioning of PSB’s through to ‘miniaturisation’, IECC’s and tracker balls. Yet there is still much of the original about with no obsession to abolish ‘Absolute’ block. Network Rail seems more content to update the early 1960’s power boxes. A salutory reminder is that there are still 85 Boxes in Kent, Sussex and Wessex Network Rail areas, a number roughly equal to the Southern Region in 1969. Backed up by pictures of lmmingham Reception Sdgs, Mantle Lane and St James Deeping.
